Costume jewellery revival as royal wedding approaches.   Costume Jewellery replicas of
Kate Middleton's  engagement ring are fast becoming some of the high street's biggest sellers.
As the country gears up to celebrate the royal nuptials this Friday, 29 April, women are flocking to snap
up a ring that makes them feel like a princess, without spending a royal fortune.
The sapphire and diamond ring which now adorns the finger of Prince Williams' bride-to-be was chosen
Princess Diana prior to her wedding ceremony in 1981.
The ring, which features a large sapphire with smaller diamonds clustered around the central stone, was
purchased for Diana for £28,500 from royal jewellers Garrard. It is now said to be worth more than £250,000, but in terms of its history, is priceless.
Debenhams spokeswoman Vicky Hewitt said, “It’s clear that women have been captivated by the romance of the
occasion. They want the chance to look like a princess too — for a fraction of the price.”
It's not just costume rings that are enjoying a spike in interest – women are also turning to antique-style
rose gold bracelets, lockets and earrings set with coloured stones resembling sapphires.
Michael Arnstein, president of the National Sapphire Company, recently reported that sales of sapphires were up by 300 per cent following the unveiling of Kate Middleton's ring.

Enjoy the celebrations tomorrow, after all we are all invited to the The Wedding of the Century!
